French telecom operator Orange Partnering with Amazon Over Voice Assistant Technology


According to the CEO of the company, Stephane Richard, French telecom operator Orange partnering with Amazon Over Voice Assistant Technology in order to combine their voice assistant technology.

Orange’s voice assistant dubbed as Djingo is the second telecom operator of the France who has joined these forces with Amazon after another French company Iliad. After the partnership, Orange’s voice assistant will have high-end set-top box including Alexa, the voice assistant of the tech giant of the US.

This partnership will allow shoppers to raise a request to buy products online or buy a service given by Amazon via Djingo, co-developed with Deutsche Telekom. The CEO of the company said that they want to go further. He further added that this partnership with help them to integrate their artificial intelligence, Djingo, and Alexa in their devices.

This week, Austrian retailers raised a complaint with their national competition authority against Amazon over its dual role as a retailer and a marketplace. The European Commission and the anti-trust authority of Germany are also looking into the US tech giant’s role in the marketplace. The main ground of the complaint is Amazon over its dual role as retailers in its own right and marketplace where so many products of other retailers' are bought and sold. This is the main problem that the major Austrian retailers want to outline in its complaint.


Amazon checks the prices of the retailers, cut their prices and attract all business from the retailers. The leading Austrian online retailer said that 93% of all Austrian online shoppers might have made at least one purchase on Amazon.
