Wistron is a Taiwan-based company working on contract and is planning to expand its investment in India. Apple Supplier, Wistron has decided to increase the production capacity of its plant in Narasapura. The company is about to finish the initial phase of expansion of its Narasapura plant based in Bengaluru. According to the latest reports, this company has increased its authorized capital (Indian subsidiary) to Rs. 3,000 crores.
Surprisingly, Wistron is the first contract manufacturer started assembling iPhone models in India. The company produces iPhone SE for Rs. 16,999 and iPhone 6S models, but with this expansion, the company is expected to produce more phones. Narasapura plant of this company has already paid the capital of Rs. 180 crores that means, their investment is a sure shot proof that the company is thinking for something bigger.
Expanding its base in India will help this company avoid the trade war that is going on between the US and China. From the reports, it is clear that Foxconn will continue to assemble high-end iPhone models including iPhone XS ₹ 93,445, iPhone XR ₹ 76,011, and iPhone 8 ₹ 54,999.
Not only this, from the reports it seems that Wistron is planning to move some of its PC, IoT, medical and cloud services to India.
Wistron’s plant in Peenya industrial area of Bengaluru city is the same plant that assembled iPhone SE and iPhone 6S units for India.
