Facebook all set to remove 1 Million Abusive Accounts per Day before Lok Sabha Elections 2019


2019 Lok Sabha Election is just a few days away. The first phase of the elections is about to start soon. Today, Facebook announced that it is planning to remove one million abusive accounts per day using the latest tools-Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools.

According to MD of Facebook, Ajit Mohan and VP of India, they are committed to maintaining the integrity in India and will work with local organizations, groups governed by the government, and experts to remove abusive accounts.

Further reports state that Facebook has been working on this project for the last 18 months to make sure Indian Lok Sabha elections were fair and interference-free. No foreign or domestic interference can harm the elections this time.

Dozens of team have been engaged with detailed planning and potential risk factors. Earlier, Facebook launched political ad transparency tools that help people to see people placing the ads they see.

Facebook recently launched two new products in the country to help people address the issues they are facing and engage candidates or elected officials in a meaningful way.

"Candidate Connect" and "Share You Voted" features have been added to get the right information about different candidates and share your vote decision with your friend.

Based on previous experiences, Mohan said that new regional operations centers will be launched in Singapore and Dublin to maintain integrity in elections.

Engineers, operations specialists, and data scientists are working closely with staff members in Facebook's Menlo Park, California headquarters, and experts in Delhi.

Not only this, Facebook clearly said that it is coming up with tools to identify abusive or violating content and remove it.  24 new languages including 16 for India will be added to Facebook’s automatic translation system.


Nearly 700 Pages, Groups and accounts were removed by the social media giant in last week only and the company continues to do so in the near future as well.
