Mukesh Ambani Plans to Take on Amazon in India

Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of renowned Reliance Industries outlines his plans to take on Amazon.com and Flipkart in Digital India. According to reports, he is planning to roll out his online shopping platform to approx. 1.2 million retailers and owners who are interested in growing further in this area.

Mukesh Ambani is Asia's richest man. Now he is planning to rule the world's largest retailers market by combining Jio telecom services and mobile devices with a wider physical range of networks. Reliance Industries Chairman plans to include Amazon and Flipkart in expanding its business across the world. Basically, he wants to rule the fastest-growing e-commerce giant where it is not necessary to organize retail.

While attending an event, Reliance Chairman said that Jio and Reliance Retail will introduce a new commerce platform inculcating 12 lakh (1.2 million) small retailers and shopkeepers based in Gujarat.

According to V.Subramanian, one of the top-executive at Reliance, as of now, Jio has 280 million subscribers and Ambani's retail channel operates in 10,000 outlets covering 6,500 Indian cities, towns, and more areas.  They are planning to team up everyone using their apps and devices.

Further reports stated that Last month, India implemented strict rules to disallow foreign-owned shoppers from selling products through Indian companies in which the foreign companies owned their shares. The rules do not allow these merchants to sell via Indian platforms. This type of rule will impact online services of Amazon and Walmart-acquired Flipkart. This way local expertise like Reliance will be benefitted to a considerable extent.

Mukesh Ambani has been highlighting the details of his plans in e-commerce for quite some time now. Last year, in July, Ambani said that the new platform will have the latest technology and will give immersive shopping experience to the buyers and sellers.
