CISCO continues to lead Indian Networking Market in Q3 2018


On Wednesday, the International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed that Cisco still continues to lead the India networking market in Q3 2018 and showed growth of 67.1 % year-over-year.

According to IDC, seeing the latest trend of technology, Government and companies involved in digitalization are expected to experience growth in the Indian networking market. This basically includes companies dealing in Ethernet switch, routers and wireless local area network (WLAN) systems.

As per Dileep Nadimpalli, the Research Manager of Storage Deptt of IDC India, Mobile systems access to companies dealing in the network, network security, and often shift to a cloud-based application. The amount of workload on a particular company is the key driving it for investment in network infrastructure.

Asia/Pacific Quarterly Ethernet Switch Tracker of IDC reported that in Q3 2018, the Ethernet switch market in India reported $160.3 million with a YoY growth of approx. 34.4% percent. In this third quarter, Cisco continues to lead the Ethernet switch market occupying 65.7% share followed by HPE and Huawei.

The networking router market of India in this quarter with YoY growth of 140.4% stood at $214.9 million. Cisco occupied 3/4th of the router market followed by Nokia and Huawei witnessing double-digit year-over-year, according to reports released by Asia/Pacific Quarterly Router Tracker of IDC.

Indian Wireless LAN market with year-over-year growth of 12% stood at $54 million in this quarter. Cisco occupied the top position in the WLAN market with 24.8% market share followed by TP-Link and HPE.


As per Ranganath Sadasiva, the Director-Enterprise of IDC India, Software-driven networking solutions will gain importance as the Indian networking market evolves from human-dependent solutions to fully-automated integrated systems.
