Fujifilm launched GFX 50R mirrorless, medium format camera in India

Fujifilm, a renowned Camera manufacturing company launched GFX 50R at Photokina 2018. This time, the company has introduced the mirrorless, medium format camera. The good thing about the new medium format camera is that it is slimmer and lighter than the previous version GFX 50S and is more affordable.  Its body is priced @ Rs. 3,69,999 as compared to Rs. 5,11,999 for GFX 50S. It gives a tough competition to other full-frame cameras including Sony A9 and Nikon Z7 those are priced higher than Rs. 3,00,000.

GFX 50R was launched this year in September and comes loaded with so many features that are similar to its bigger version. 51.4 MP medium-format sensor, ISO 100 to 12,800, contrast detection autofocus system/ 425 AF points, continuous shooting, full-High Definition video recording up to a frame rate of 30fps, 3.2” touchscreen display, 2,360K dot resolution, and a weather-resistant body.

Some features that are different are the ergonomic-design, button layout and features like a thinner and lighter body than the GFX 50S.  EVF is on the left side in the GFX 50R and it is removable in the GFX 50S and placed in the middle. The new model doesn’t have the ISO dial so you can easily get this camera for exposure compensation.

No four-way direction pad on the back, just a joystick for navigation. If you want to change the autofocus point then use the joystick only. Both models support Wi-Fi and the new model, GFX 50R extends its support to Bluetooth Low Energy. This would help you to connect to your smartphone without any hassle of the battery usage.

Not only the company has launched the camera but two new XF lenses — the XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens (f/2.8 max. aperture and is available for the price of Rs 159,999) and the XF 200mm f/2 OIS WR (f/2 max. aperture and is available for the price of Rs. 4,79,999) as well that are compatible with its X series- mirrorless cameras.
