On Wednesday, one of the largest online ordering apps, Zomato announced that in order to provide faster and secure food delivery via drones in the country, the company has acquired a startup that will help Zomato build a hub to hub network chain driven by multi-rotor drones.
TechEagle Innovations based in Lucknow works exclusively on drones. The company was founded by Vikram Singh Meena, alumni from IT-Kanpur in 2015.
According to the Founder and the CEO of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal, they are currently taking baby steps to bring a better tomorrow wherein drones will deliver food ordered online via their site. He further added that their first mission to provide online order delivery via a drone that can pick up a load of up to 5 Kgs. The circuits will be set in such a way that the last mile rush will be reduced.
As of now, online ordering app, Zomato has more than 75,000 restaurant partners under its network only for offering food delivery services to almost 100 cities in India. Last year, this company acquired Runnr as a result of which, it has over 1.5 lakh delivery partners.
Menna further added that this acquisition will build something that will change the future of primary and secondary food supply chains in India.
Last week, Zomato announced that Durga Raghunath, the present CEO of Indian Express Digital Media Services, will now serve as Senior Vice President-Growth of the company w.e.f December 21. This acquisition news came after this announcement.
